Shaldon

 A quaint English drinking village, with a fishing problem

Shaldon is a quaint village with lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs, providing great food, local beers and live music.

There is a great community spirit in Shaldon and as a village host lots of events throughout the year. Every Wednesday from May to September is 1785 day, where the villagers dress in costume and there are several attractions on the village green.

In the summer its time for Shaldon Water Carnival, and Regatta. Both are huge village events with lots of family friendly activities going. The Zebediah Hook show on Wednesday evenings on the green is loved by children and adults!

During winter there's Bonfire night entertainment and Boxing Day 3 legged race.

Things to do

There is a local village store which has everything you could wish for and need when on holiday - great choice and a friendly welcome! There is also a bakery, butchers, pharmacy and post office. 

There are plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes in the village all selling great food and local beers. 

The ferry runs regularly from Shaldon beach over to Teignmouth and the nearest train station is located here with trains to Torquay, Paignton, Exeter and Plymouth. Keep your ferry ticket as you get free entry for children to Shaldon Zoo!

Dartmoor national park is a 20 minute drive away.

The village is lovely to walk round and see the tiny streets and cottages, with outstanding views from the Botanical Gardens and the Ness headland.

Getting Around

Parking in Shaldon can be difficult, however Horse Lane does have unrestricted parking. This is dependant on space availability.

There is no allocated disabled parking.

There is a large car park about 5 minutes walk away and also unrestricted parking about a 10 minute, hilly walk away.

The ferry runs every 10 minutes from Shaldon beach to Teignmouth back beach and the train station is a 10 minutes walk from the ferry point.

There are plenty of bus stops on the main road
